Newcomer AND First Season Rules

Each year the Victorian Pinto Society hold Newcomer and First Season classes at various events throughout the season. Newcomer classes are designated for registered Pintos competing in their first season under saddle.

ALTERATIONS TO NEWCOMER REQUIREMENTS
In an effort to accommodate those Pintos who compete in Open Sections where the general rule of Newcomers seasons starts of 1st January, the following has now been implemented by VPS.

NEWCOMER. A newcomer pinto is one who has not competed under saddle in any discipline prior to JANUARY 1ST in the calendar year of the current season starting.
EG: if you have started your newcomer any time in 2018 to date, you WILL be eligible for any of the VPS newcomer classes for the duration of season 2018 / 2019.

FIRST SEASON: This is a newly introduced section in addition to the “Newcomer”. A First Season Pinto is one who has not competed under saddle in any discipline prior to AUGUST 1ST in the calendar year of the current season starting.
EG: If you wish to compete in First Season this coming show season, you MUST NOT have competed under saddle prior to AUGUST 1ST 2018.

The FIRST SEASON pinto is also eligible for the NEWCOMER pinto classes.

Criteria:

  • Started your Pinto under saddle prior to August 1st :- eligible for Newcomer only.
  • Started your Pinto under saddle after August 1st:- eligible First Season & Newcomer.
  • ANY CLASS means – any and all competition. If you are being judged in any discipline, then you are deemed to be competing. Therefore, DRESSAGE is considered a competition.
  • Pony Club or HRCAV rallies are not deemed a competition, nor are trail rides.

ANY CLASS means:  NOT TO HAVE COMPETED INTERSTATE OR IN VICTORIA.

UNDER SADDLE means: any class where the Pinto is broken in – THIS INCLUDES LEAD REIN CLASS.
